Heritage Show

Evelyn and Chimmy had a great time at the Heritage Show this past weekend. With 7 riders in the competition, Evelyn had her work cut out for her. She and Chimmy earned a third place in the walk-trot class and a first place in the walk-trot-canter class. This was her first blue ribbon on Chimmy and her first blue ribbon in almost 2 years. Evelyn's equitation was fantastic. We were thrilled! The next class required walk-trot-canter and jumping over 2 jumps. After the flat work Evelyn cut the corner before the first jump and Chimmy took a large leap over the jump which caused Evelyn to become loose and actually land on him in front of the saddle! She hit her neck and head against his neck and our good boy stopped and stood still until Evelyn could get back into position. She gathered herself and with the direction from our beloved trainer, Scott she continued cantering and jumped the second jump. Evelyn earned a 6th place in this class. The final class required her to jump eight jumps. She had a beautiful ride and Chimmy stayed on the right lead until the last jump where he switched his lead. The lead changes are something Evelyn continues to work on in her lessons. She says she can feel when he is on the wrong lead, which is a step in the right direction. Their beautiful performance earned them another blue ribbon and a tie for champion of the short-stirrup division! We are so very proud of their comeback from a challenging class. This was a character building and confidence tested show.

Morgan and Evelyn loved being with the horses after their classes. There is just nothing like being with friends at a show.
