Evelyn and Chimmy at Halcyon Farm

Evelyn walks Chimmy to the indoor for warm ups. It was windy and a bit of chill in the air, just enough to give Chimmy a bit more go than usual.

Evelyn and Stephanie on Belle (a.k.a. Merlin's Minuet) are ready at the gate.

Chimmy taking a large leap during the schooling session. Gotta love the roundness of his neck. Evelyn jumped this one well, but took her first tumble off of Chimmy soon after this. Chimmy being the good boy that he is stopped immediately upon realizing that he lost his rider and waited for Evelyn to return to the saddle. She was a bit shaken, but with Scott's direction and confidence returned to the saddle and again sailed over the jumps.

From the rear view, so to speak.

This is during the competition. Her hip is to be directly over her ankle as she rises into her two point. She is looking between his ears and onto the next jump. Chimmy looks quite happy.

You can see the judge taking notes.

Chimmy took five strides between every jump as he was suppose to and changed leads, if Evelyn cut the corners. It was a learning experience and a great come back from her previous tumble. Way to go Evelyn!

What a great first show! The ribbons were not our focus, but getting third place in the second round of jumping which required eight jumps was a pleasant surprise. As Evelyn's confidence grew, so did her ability to ride Chimmy over those jumps. We are very proud of their accomplishments and look forward to Chimmy teaching Evelyn more about riding, lead changes and of course, jumping.
